I am an elementary school art teacher. This is my seventh year in the classroom. I teach at a charter school which allows me a lot of freedom in my teaching. I do not see students by homeroom once a week, instead they sign up for classes much like high school or college, only taking elective courses they are interested in! We have three, 10 week sessions a year, teaching six classes a day. We combine two grade levels per elective rotation, so I teach (2) 4th/5th, (2) 2nd/3rd, and (2) K/1st classes per day. Right now I teach: Woodshop/Pottery, Animal Art, Art History, Digital Art, Art Around the World, Intro to art. I try to change up my classes every 10 weeks so my students have new opportunities in my classroom. I love this style and set up of teaching! I am looking forward to learning more about integrating technology in my classroom through this Eds Program!
